Lladro Clown

If you are a Lladro follower you probably know all about what is included in this article, but just in case you are new to what Lladro from Spain porcelain is, you are in for a very pleasant surprise.  When I first fell in love with the splendor of Lladro was when I lived in Scotland and took an overnight train ride down to London to see all the tourist spots like Windsor Castle, River Thames, Parliament, Tower of London, etc. We got to be assigned to Thurso, Scotland when we were in the US Navy.  Of course, I just had to go to Harrods’s (THE shopping center not to be missed) while we were in London.  While looking in the gifts department, I spotted the most elegant porcelain figurines that took my breath away. Were the flowers and the statue living that the Lladro figure was holding, or was it just my imagination!  Right there I just had to buy my first Lladro figure and she has a very special place in my home to this day. My choices of Lladro figures have been smart decisions, most are retired and quite expensive now.  But I had no idea that the world of Lladro was so well followed by so many well-known people.  The biggest surprise to me is that the figurines are not the only pieces of art that Lladro is known for.  There is another side of this fantastic family that only is known by people in the know, so I am here to let you in on ‘the know’.

There is a four-season series of Teddy Bears, limited edition to only 2000, which can be found in the Lladro Magazine.  These teddy bears are plush bears with the signature Lladro flowers on their heads and tags on its paw and tiara of flowers.  This magazine is a treasure trove, all centered on art, porcelain and how the artists design such beautiful pieces.

There is Lladro Privilege and Lladro Privilege Gold Collections that are specially highlighted in the magazine. There is a membership club that you have to belong to, to buy a certain piece just for a collector.  One of the articles features Angeles Lladro in her garden that shows the sculptures can be used to accent outdoors.  Another article shows a red Great Dragon that Angeles Lladro signed for the couple who bought it.

New for consideration are the four-piece Hindu god of Wisdom and Fortune.  These pieces are truly a unique set of statues that you must see in the magazine.  And, if you like the game of chess, you must see the pieces and chess board that are also available from Lladro from Spain.

Did you know that there is a Lladro Museum, which houses one of Spain’s most awesome private art collections?  Pieces from the museum were recently in Vitoria, Spain on exhibit, including ground-breaking pieces developed by Lladro over the years.

One of the ways to make sure you buy an authentic Lladro, is by finding the identification mark, no other figure can replicate the flower design.  One of the newest versions of the tiny flowers and classic figure is also available for sale in the Lladro magazine.  The detail to the flowers is breathtaking, along with the cart and expression on the girl’s face. The Lladro brochure that comes out every quarter is worth looking at, it always brings back memories for me.  What a wonderful journey I have had since that day in the world of Lladro.  I would like to someday get a signed piece of Lladro porcelain art by Angeles Lladro, but I’ll just keep that in my heart as a goal I would like to achieve one day.  In the meantime, I hope you have decided to follow my link to find some Lladro from Spain pieces that you might enjoy buying and loving as I have done over the years.  They only get more precious as time goes by.
